Here at Go Thrift, we know that buying second-hand clothes can come with a bit of stigma and uncertainty. However, we reckon we’ve put a pretty foolproof process in place to ensure that it’s as easy and as accessible as possible for anyone and everyone! It’s our mission to make second-hand shopping the norm, as it’s better for your bank balance and better for the planet, hence why we put so much work and effort into making our listings clear and informative! We wanted to let you all know how we ensure your second-hand shopping experience with us is as seamless as it can be, along with a few tips on what to look out for when shopping second-hand online.
Quality Assurance
Before we even begin to put an item through our listing process, it is thoroughly checked by someone in an area set up with studio lights for any defects that we deem too significant for the item to be sold. This is also when the FIRST of many checks is done on any branded items to ensure that they are legit and not counterfeit, as we have a zero-tolerance policy on selling counterfeits. Any clothes that we do think are too far gone to be sold, we do our best to put to some other use. For example, we cut a lot of unusable clothes into rags that can be used for dusting and cleaning.
Cleanliness is Key!
We like to make sure that when you receive your second-hand items from us, your items are lovely and clean (you won’t be finding any used, scrunched-up tissues in any jacket pockets!). If we think an item could do with a bit of extra TLC, we make sure they get a good wash in our industrial washing machine and drier. However, if items don’t need washing, we simply don’t wash them, this is because it would be an unnecessary waste of energy and water. We do however steam EVERY item, this gets rid of any creases, which is super important for enabling our graders to be able to see every nook and cranny of an item, and also so they look nice and fresh in the images we take.
Attention to Detail
Once an item is deemed fit for purpose, has been washed if needed and steamed, it then goes to our amazing grading team! Our graders are trained to check each and every item meticulously, as our items are second-hand, they do tend to have minor signs of wear. We think this just adds to their charm and uniqueness, but we do know it’s important to note anything of significance so our customers know exactly what they’re getting! We also like to include other details such as measurements for each item; label sizes can differ so much from brand to brand and second-hand clothes can change in size and shape over time.
Customer Care
We take keeping up to date with customer services and enquiries very seriously here at Go Thrift. We know that shopping second-hand online can be new and a bit different for some people, so we like to ensure we’re answering any questions as soon as possible. We also welcome people to get in touch with any enquiries they might have about a specific item. Even though we include a lot of detail in our listings, if there’s an extra measurement or detail someone wants to know about, we have no issue with getting the item from our warehouse and obtaining that information for you. If you’re unsure, just ask!
Tips and Tricks to Shopping Second-Hand Online
- Know your measurements - It’s super handy to have an idea of your measurements or even the measurements of clothes you already have that you love the fit of. This way you can compare these measurements to the clothes you're looking at online to get an accurate idea of size and fit.
- Always read the condition - We always recommend our customers read the item specifics and have a good look at the pictures, so you know exactly what you’re getting when buying an item.
- Use the filters - We recommend using the filters to narrow down your search and make sure you’re looking at the items relevant to you. Always start with your size, and depending on what you’re looking for, you can start narrowing your search down by selecting specifics such as fit, colour, brand etc.
